Cup of Joe for a Joe
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 30, 2026 • Last Updated: May 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Green Beans Coffee Company ("Green Beans," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares personal information through the Cup of Joe for a Joe donation portal (the "Portal"), where active duty service members and other authorized participants accept coffee donations purchased on their behalf.
This Policy applies specifically to the Portal. Information collected through our main website at greenbeanscoffee.com or at our retail coffee shops is governed by the Green Beans Coffee Privacy Policy available on our main site.
By creating an account or using the Portal, you agree to the practices described below.
About the Cup of Joe for a Joe Program
Cup of Joe for a Joe is a program that lets supporters back home purchase coffee donations for service members deployed around the world. Donations are placed into a pool, and eligible service members can sign in to the Portal to accept a donation and redeem it at participating Green Beans locations or through other approved fulfillment methods.
Donor and recipient identities are not shared with one another. Donors may include a short message with their donation, but they do not receive personally identifying information about the service member who accepts it.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to verify eligibility, deliver donations, and operate the Portal.
Information You Provide
- Account information, such as your name, email address, and military affiliation (branch and, where applicable, base or deployment location for fulfillment purposes)
- Authentication credentials (passwords are stored in hashed form, not in plain text)
- Records of the donations you have accepted and where they were redeemed
- Any messages you send to us through Portal support channels
Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Portal, we and our service providers automatically collect limited technical information, including:
- IP address and approximate location
- Browser type, operating system, and device identifiers
- Pages viewed, time spent on pages, and click activity within the Portal

Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect or store military identification numbers, Social Security numbers, payment card information (donations are processed on our main site), or details about your operational assignment or mission.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Verify your eligibility to participate in the Cup of Joe for a Joe program
- Match available donations with eligible service members
- Record and process donation acceptances and fulfill them at participating locations
- Respond to your support requests
- Maintain the security of the Portal and detect or prevent fraud, misuse, or unauthorized access
- Improve the Portal's functionality and user experience
- Comply with applicable laws and respond to legal requests
We do not use Portal account information to market unrelated products or services to you, and we do not share your information with donors or advertising partners.
5. Data Retention
We keep your personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law.
- Active account information is retained while your account is active
- Donation acceptance records are retained for a reasonable period after redemption for accounting, program integrity, and reporting purposes
- Inactive accounts may be deleted or anonymized after a period of inactivity
6. International Data Transfers
The Cup of Joe for a Joe program serves U.S. service members and authorized participants stationed around the world, including at overseas military installations. The Portal is operated from the United States, and your personal information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or in other countries where our service providers operate.
These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in the country where you are stationed. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your information when it is transferred internationally.
